Artist Inspiration

This piece comes from a series titled ‘A Field Guide for Imaginary Birds’. As a child I had two vocations in mind for adulthood: Art and Ornithology. The science part of my mind never really kicked in, as I spent most of my time drawing and daydreaming and talking to animals. In my paintings I can explore the lost realms of pretend Ornithology, inventing Snowier Egrets, Forest Penguins, and revealing the many varieties of yet-to-be-discovered owls. Here we have, simply, two White Owls: gatekeepers of a vermillion world where creative power is limitless. They are the dutiful watchers, and protectors, of unrestrained imagination.
