came across this lil’ gem window shopping in Mongkok.
the attention to detail’s pretty good.
UI’s a bit scary but was happy to see it has a camera with removable media (mini SD).

was a bit surprised at first and then i realised that it was about time. after all, people don’t really have much of a choice when it comes to cellphones. seems like outside Japan, there aren’t many super attractive/odd designs. understandably, i guess. they’re the only genre of electronics that are often literally tied to a much bigger & controlling economic force, the service providers. hence the realtionship between the manufacturers & telcos must be much closer etc etc.

so it’s kinda great that out of left field, the Chinese are adding a bit of fun into the arena. i myself am still looking for that classic phone, something i’d love to own for more than 24 months. sadly the iPhone & au KDDI beauties are both chained down, out of reach beyond US & Japanese users.

am not saying that these cute cellphones are going to replace the “serious” ones, but so many people have more than just the one essential handset, esp as landline ownership seems to be on the decline. for me, love to have one more for travel, for the local prepaid SIM. if only there was a decent dual SIM phone but actually, not being able to find one might be the perfect excuse to get this silly thing.
