Do The Robot Dance

So don’t just stand there, bust a move! Perfect on your coffee table, on your desk, a long car ride, for you and your kids to bust moves! In all seriousness, inspired by the Japanese Shinto Kumi-ki puzzles, the Cubebot is a non-traditional take on the toy robot by joining ancient Japanese traditions with contemporary toy culture. Cubebots’s powerful hardwood frame can hold many poses, and his elastic-band muscles and durable wood limbs make him impervious to breakage. When it’s time for him to rest, he folds into a perfect cube. Done deal!

Bring the Forest into Your Home with Jae Hyo Lee’s Sculptures

Jae Hyo Lee has been getting a lot of buzz lately, and it’s easy to see why. We are digging the South Korean artist’s most recent project, in which he uses pine logs to create curvy, textured, and modern forms that straddle the line between sculpture and furniture.

Lee’s other efforts can be seen in galleries and installations all over the world. Below is his contribution to the Echigo Tsumari Art Triennial in Japan.

His explorations of texture are riveting, the surface of this piece is made from bent and sanded nails.
