Color the world

We love it when old things become new, more beautiful objects. We can’t think of a better example than these colored pencil sets new to the site.

First, we feed our wanderlust with these colored pencils made with recycled newspapers.

A set of 12 assorted colors that comes in a nifty craft tube, each one provides endless entertainment with the little hints of yesterday’s news still easily readable. Most are in Chinese, in fact, perhaps this is a way they get information out of that Great Wall of China? We don’t really know, but it’s still fun to speculate.

Then, we once again take inspiration from nature with these Reclaimed Branch Colored Pencils made with mango wood.

We love its texture in our hands. Neither straight, nor narrow, they wake up our sense of possibility just by breaking a little out of the norm.

What would you use to fuel your color your world?

Awesome Mother Nature

Terje Sorgjerd is a landscape photographer and filmmaker from Norway. This film captures his adventures between April 4 to 11, photographing from the top of Spain’s highest mountain.

Sometimes, it takes a time-lapse like this to remind us that there is so much of Mother Nature we haven’t seen yet. Scroll through 00:32 to see what the Milky Way looks like through a Sahara sandstorm.

Doesn’t that just take your breath away?

In celebration of Earth Day, we launched our newest line of upcycled leather goods. But our eco-friendly line doesn’t end there. Here are some other green goodies around the Poketo world:

The Big Sur Eco-Pullover is made with organic cotton, recycled polyester, and naturally occurring rayon. Named after Kerouac’s work of the same name, the illustration’s dreamy aura leave one a lot of room to dream and wonder.

Hand-painted on salvaged wood, this necklace is as modern take on merit badges. Doesn’t this make you feel more prepared for what lies ahead already?

There’s just something so graceful about these balancing blocks made from re-purposed hardwood scrap. Rescued from local furniture shops, each set contains ten different-sized colored blocks. Create your own mini-cities with these. We have!

Change the world one idea at a time with these notebooks made of 100 percent recycled paper and printed with soy-based inks.

Did we miss anything you think should be on the list? Let us know! In the meantime, go out and enjoy the sunshine!

Mix & Match

Spring break is here, which means it’s time for a getaway. Aside from packing your dresses, shirts and essentials, don’t forget to give your well-worn passport a comfy home. Made of soft and supple upcycled vintage sofa leather, our passport cases are each one-of-a-kind style statements, never to be replicated again. Most come in shades of black, brown and cream, while others are enlivened by splashes of color (even metallics!)

Not only are they stylish and surprising, but they’re quite practical as well. The large exterior pocket makes the perfect niche for your boarding pass and ticket. Inside, discreet slits are perfectly sized for IDs and credit cards. The side pockets are large enough to fit your passport and even a little bit of cash.

In one passport case, you can see traces of up to four different types of leather, each tastefully handcrafted in South Korea by a design non-profit known for giving new life to cast-off materials.

We love the many textures and colors in even just one passport, so we decided to show them off to you, our wonderful readers.

Solid and trustworthy cream and black becomes a natural bronze and brown with a hint of baby blue

Dark and luxurious in black and taupe, this case holds a surprise in blue.

Cool in cream and green is simply solid and dependable in browns and blacks inside.

So, matchmaker, which one is your favorite match?

Perfect Pairs

Springtime means breaking out the snazzy outfits that have been hiding away in your closet during the winter. Complete your favorite delicate dress or cute top outfit with our latest upcycled leather clutch collection. Wonderfully petite and minimalist, this clutch finishes off an outfit elegantly. Rather than using metal zippers, a simple obi-like ribbon wraps around the clutch, securing all your valuables.

This one says “daytime glam,” don’t you think?

This one is a natural beauty.

This one looks ready to go from day to night.

Made in partnership with a non-profit South Korean design firm known for giving new life to cast-offs, the clutches are lovingly made and undoubtedly one-of-a-kind.
