Bravo, the network that brought us shows like Top Chef and Project Runway, is debuting a new competition-based reality series tonight called “Work of Art” to find America’s next great artist.

The fourteen contestants are young and photogenic. They have diverse backgrounds in sculpture, installation, video art, photography, performance art, and painting, among others. Some of them are struggling artists, and others have already been in prominent shows or have gotten prestigious grants. Like other competition shows, someone gets booted at the end of each episode. The “winner” of the show receives a $100,000 cash prize and a solo show at the Brooklyn Museum of Art. Check out this preview:

It feels uncertain whether something as subjective as art can viably put into a competitive context, or whether a panel judges, however well-informed, can assess such a broad range of art. It could be entertaining, though, and the premise is provocative enough to compel us to watch the first episode. It debuts tonight, June 9th at 11pm on Bravo. So, readers, will you be watching?
