As you know, we are getting ready to open up the new Poketo brick and mortar store really soon… just getting through some final hurdles, we’ll keep you posted as soon as we get those doors open. In the meantime, we’ve had some friends stop in, check up, and just say hi… No big deal.

The gals at Novak making you look your best… and our very own, Charlie of Poketo… No big deal.

Mr. Baller, Gary Chou, and executive producer of Surrogate Valentine films, winning awards many times over on the indie film circuit… No big deal.

Artist, Jesse LeDoux… his album cover for The Shins was nominated for a Grammy… No big deal.

Artist/photographer Gina Osterloh just ended a show at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts… No big deal.

Our friend Greg here giving us a hand… you’ve heard of John Legend? No big deal.

Adam and Jinsoo of up and coming electronic-art-gaming LA Gamespace… there is amazing things in the works here… they will be no big deal.

Portugal. The Man…

I think the LA weather does Portugal. The Man good… Not one person at UCLA’s Royce Hall was sitting… as a matter of fact, as soon as they started, fans rushed the front (including me), and everyone was singing along to John Gourley’s words. They played a mix of a bunch of albums, lots from Censored Colors, Satanic Satanist, and In The Mountain In The Cloud. Every time I see Portugal play, they pretty much put on the best show again and again. Their show for Poketo a couple years back is my gold standard and forever ingrained. This show brought me back. Enjoy the visuals.

I was on stage right… John was on the other end there… I had front row, so, didn’t want to risk it battling my way through the crowd.

I was right in front of the awesome Noah Gersh on guitar and Zach Carothers on bass…

Portugal played with UCLA’s Philharmonia… a mini orchestra…

Always creating… Dublab’s Creative Cultivation Party

We love LA’s streaming radio station Dublab. The DJs are all LA, they play what they want with the sole mission to share beautiful music with the world. You’ll hear world-class Djs, musicians, and artists including Daedelus, Andres Renteria, Carlos Nino, The Gaslamp Killer, Kutmah, and Kozyndan- these are just a handful of folks that are part of the Dublab crew.

Our friend Frosty is one of the founders of this truly eclectic radio station. He started this in 1999 and it’s been going strong and getting stronger since day one. Dublab is about bringing community together for the arts, film, and of course, music. Every time I run into Frosty, there is always something new… it could be a film project that is touring the nation, Friday night music events at the Natural History Museum, Djing at the TED conference, or producing and making records by some of LA’s finest. Frosty and Dublab have got their hands in everything…and, it wouldn’t be what it is without the support of Dublab’s global listeners and fans.

Introducing Creative Cultivation 2012, a dinner-music-party fundraiser for Dublab radio. Frosty has lined up Cut Chemist, Julia Holter, Anenon & Yvette Holzwarth, Carlos Niño, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson & Dexter Story. Drinks from Lagunitas Beer, DRY Soda Co., and food from one of our favorite restaurants, Starry Kitchen!

You can support and be part of this event, by buying tickets here. Dublab is a 501(c)(3) creative non profit, so the proceeds go directly to funding their mission and operation…. and of course purchasing a ticket is 100% tax deductible.

Turkish towels at Poketo…

Always bittersweet seeing good peeps leave Poketo. If you’ve been loving all of the Poketo photo shoots and product photography, well, that’s the Dikka of DikkaVega. He has made our site look incredible and we’ll miss him!

Best of luck to our Dikka… as much as we love you, I KNOW you are gonna miss us… and pizza parties!

As we are heading towards warmer weather, it’s time to bring some of that sunshine inside! A few awesome highlights in Dwell Magazine and Better Homes & Garden this month. Super excited to see some pieces in these magazines that we have on Poketo, created by our friends and designers, Eric Trine and Danny Simon. Lets give them some love!

Dwell Magazine featured Simon’s A-Frame Plant Hanger…

Danny Simon makes all of these A-Frame Plant Hangers by hand in his studio in Long Beach. Made from a combination of deadstock military straps, Ipe wood, and gorgeous brass hardware.

Better Homes & Garden featured the 3-Ring Planter by Eric Trine… what they featured is the steel version, what they didn’t show below is the white powder coated version. Both are awesome.

Eric is California all the way, but, currently he’s living in Portland and refining his craft, making furniture, and all kinds of art/design objects for the home. A natural designer and builder, he sees beyond the object itself… there’s always something else. Just take a look at Eric’s website, you’ll see what I’m talking about.
