Last week, we blogged the video that Jeana Sohn made for Poketo inspired by the Target collection. Just in case you haven’t seen what came before it, below is Summer day part I. When we first saw this video, we fell in love. When you watch it, you’ll see why. Immediately, we asked Jeana to do one for Poketo… Without further ado, both videos, Summer Days I and II… enjoy!
Thanks to everyone that made Poketo at Target Day a very fun day. Angie had a blast in NYC, caught up with tons of new and old friends, and the free ice cream went in a snap. Los Angeles was a blast, thanks to everyone that came out and enjoyed the beautiful day with us.
And thank you to all of the organizers that dotted the country for your wonderful photos and organizing your own Poketo at Target Day meet ups! It put a smile on our face to see the awesome pics! Here are some below from LA, NYC, Allie and Gabby from Texas, Raul from San Diego, Zelina from Northern California, and Rachael from Virgina. We are waiting for more pics from our other organizers, will post more as they come in on and you can see even more at facebook.com/poketo.
Colin and Shiho.

Beth and Tim, the raddest, nicest people from Lake Street Creamery Ice Cream Truck. You need to follow them now!
This from blogger Vanessa of beetgoeson blog in NYC. Unfortunately, Angie was busy talking and not taking too many pics. But, it was good to know that artists James Gulliver Hancock, singer Lenka, artists Damien Correll, Poketo for Target artist Mike Perry, Anna at Substudio, and many many friends came out.
I love these photos from Allie and Gabby from San Antonio, Texas. They had some fun in the store, modeling practically everything, check out all of the photos here.
Raul from San Diego… a long time Poketo fan represented big time and made a video. Check it out below. We love fan videos.
Meet Jeana Sohn-artist, blogger, and model for the Poketo for Target collection. Photographer Ye Rin Mok captured most of the lookbook in Jeana’s beautiful, Hollywood Hills home where she lives with musician and husband Brad Breeck and her two little dogs.
Can you tell us about where you live? What makes it special for you?
I live in an old 3-story house in Hollywood Dell. I love that it has a great view, and the floor plan is very open for an old house. Also, I see so many humming birds around. The whole house feels very magical and inspiring.
What’s your favorite place in your home? Do you have a place to dream, rest, work, and play?
I spend a lot of time on the 3rd floor (it’s just a big open space). I often move things around and set things up there and take photos, film and paint. We call this floor “Jeana’s creative space”. Sometimes it turns into a dance floor! My husband’s music studio is on the first floor so when he has clients downstairs, I have privacy upstairs.
Are there any secret places you like to go to for inspiration?
I like to hike at the Hollywood Reservoir, Franklin Park and Griffith Park (there are so many nice trails there!). Rancho Palos Verdes and Abalone Cove are my favorite beaches.
What are your favorite places for fashion finds in Los Angeles?
For vintage: Goodwill, Squaresville in Los Feliz, American Rag’s vintage section, thrift stores in Palmdale, and the Rose Bowl Flea Market.
For contemporary: Mohawk General Store, Clare Vivier, Opening Ceremony, Steven Alan Outpost and sample sales.
What is your perfect day like?
Get up, coffee, clean the house (i like cleaning!), farmer’s market, lunch & coffee with friends, create something fun at home or outside, go for a long walk with brad and the dogs. Then cook a yummy dinner, get some gelato, watch a late night movie, and sleep.
Follow Jeana on her blog. We are in love with her blog here at Poketo. This is where we discovered the videos she makes. We caught ourselves watching her videos over and over-they were fun, moody, adventurous, bright, intriguing, simply beautiful-We fell in love and we asked Jeana to make a video inspired by Poketo. Here is what she made. Perfect.
An incredible collaboration and fundraiser comes to life. Grammy nominated singer/songwriter, Neko Case is auctioning off her killer 1967 Mercury Cougar for one of our favorite non-profit organizations, 826 National. 826 National is a non-profit dedicated to helping students, ages 6-18, with creative writing and helping teachers getting their kids get excited about writing!
We are super excited that Neko asked us to be part of this fundraiser. As if her car was not enough to get people excited, she wanted to invite her favorite peeps to fill it with goodies. We are honored to be part of this. All proceeds of the sale/auction of the car will go directly to fund 826 Nationals programs and chapters across the country. Bidding for Neko’s amazing car will begin in the coming months so stay tuned.
In the meantime, you can support 826 now by purchasing the Poketo Mercury Cougar-Rama Muscle Car-’splosion tee shirt designed by Neko Case for this special fundraiser! Yes, Neko Case hand drew these two designs for 826 and Poketo! Singer, songwriter, and artist–Wow.
Check out the special edition Neko Case x Poketo shirts at 826national.org. Learn more about the auction and check out more pics of this famed 67′ Mercury at nekocase.com/auction. The video below is super cute, super cool and explains it all… and, did you spot it, Neko is wearing a Poketo tee!!
Some music to get you going, lets visit Beck’s Record Club. Record Club is an informal meeting of various musicians to record an album in a day. Beck invites artists like Feist, Jeff Tweedy, Jamie Lidell, Devandra Banhart, and many others. The album chosen to be reinterpreted is used as a framework, nothing is rehearsed, their only mission is to play music and document what happens–which they do skillfully with great videos. Already, they have reinterpreted Velvet Underground, INXS, Skip Spence, Leonard Cohen, and this month, Yanni with guests Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth.
Some of my favorite are the INXS covers. INXS’ Kick was an important album for me, not only really good, but the very first compact disc (CD) I ever bought! Vinyl records were abundant in our house, but, when CD’s first came out as the “indestructible” format for music (I used to throw them like a frisbee before I soon realized that they do in fact scratch), this was my first purchase. Kick was so good then and still holds up today as a great pop album. Enjoy!
When I travel, I carry about 5 different analog and digital cameras with me. Each one produces a different look and feel and also makes me shoot in different styles too. Here are a bunch of spontaneous shots with my very small Harinezumi 2 digital video and still camera. I love the post processed look and the fact I can keep it in my pocket, it’s perfect that I can carry this along with my other larger Nikon DSLR. Before I start nerding out even more… enjoy.
Super stoked on this. My brother Tom Vadakan of Los Desperados Art Banditos (for short, Los Desperados) and Bat Skates is curating a show at Hurley Headquarters on July 10th. The show titled, “Transition” will include mix of artists with a deep connection to surf, skate, and old school punk rock culture. Los Desperados teamed up with Bat Skates and Hurley to have a killer show of hand painted skate decks, live music, and Hurley will be opening up their skate park, free to the public. Below is a killer video of some of the artists, art, and vibe from the show. We’ll be there, if you are in the area, don’t miss this.
