New Bags: Colorful, Foldable Pocket Totes!

Add some colorful and functional flair to your ensemble with the collapsible Pocket Tote.

The Pocket Tote has a Ripstop nylon body and handles, and is lightweight and durable. Ripstop is the same tough stuff that sails, parachutes, and hot air balloons are made of.

When you’re done, you can fold it into itself.

There are two colorways: Forest and Sky!

The Stories Behind the Bags

Our Upcycled Street Banner Bags have become wildly popular because of their graphic colors and the uniqueness of each one. It shouldn’t be taken for granted, however, that each bag has a story behind it. We received one such story today from one of our twitter followers, Hana, inquiring about a very specific bag that she had seen in her friend’s blog.

Her parent’s names just happened to be on that bag, and in a wild coincidence, it turns out that the banner was from a lecture given by her parents in Korea in 2009!

Check out how Hana diagramed how the original banner made its way to its final form:

It was a delight to see that one of the Banner Bags’ stories came back to us through coincidence and the magic of the Internet!

Poketo Goes Eco! New line of 100% Recycled Eco Bags!

We are pleased to announce our newest collaborative bag line with South Korean non-profit design brand, Eco Party Mearry! Just in time for Earth Day on April 22nd, our line of 100% recycled bags are made of old street banners, leather couches and jackets, and donated clothing. No two bags are alike! They’re super fresh, durable, design-forward, and best of all–good for the Earth! A percentage of the proceeds will go towards environmental efforts and create more jobs abroad.

The series includes three styles:

The Recycled Street Banner Bag

The Bubble Bag

The Recycled Suit Tote

* * *

A lot of love and hard work is put into every bag, and we wanted to show you first hand how these bags are made in Korea.

STEP 1: Gather the material. Street banners are found everywhere in Seoul, from buildings to streets. Instead of trashing the nylon material, volunteers gather the street banners from all over Seoul.

STEP 2: After gathering the discarded materials, they organize them and clean them.

STEP 3: The street banners are taken to the workshop to be cut and sewn into bags by designers.
