It’s rare you get a chance to see the insides of an artist. Each of Gary Baseman’s sketchbooks are lovingly cared for, he fills one up, catalogs them thoroughly and put them away for a time unknown. It’s incredible to see book shelves full of his thoughts on paper. What’s cool about our latest Poketo wallet collaboration with Baseman is that you see start to finish–the inside of the wallets shows pages taken directly from his sketch books and the cover are finished paintings. Even better, we also have his books, “My Hunger For Venison” and “Dying of Thirst” included in the series as a special set. These books have page after page of his sketch book imagery as well as his completed paintings. Gary carries his sketchbook wherever he goes, you don’t see him without one, should he suddenly get inspired, his thoughts are never far from pen to paper.
