Riding the High Line with Ira Glass
The High Line was 10 years in the making. An old, abandoned railroad since the 80s. For years, people, the community have been trying to transform this abandoned track into something for the public. Giuliani was against it for some reason. The community pushed and pushed, raised money, raised awareness, worked the system. Now, after two years of construction, this beautiful, elevated park is open to the public, running from The Meat Packing district on up several blocks north. Currently, only half of the park is complete with a second half of the transformation to finish next year.
Along the lines of beauty, creativity, tradition, transformation, and in my opinion one of the hearts of American culture, we met Ira Glass of This American Life. How perfect, the High Line with Ira Glass.
