Are you asking yourself, “vinyl records…. really??” Yep, it’s making its comeback-from audiophiles to kids who probably never grew up with this form of music. It’s good to see the interest in vinyl again. I’ve always love it for the artwork potential and of course, the sound. When you have a good turntable and a proper set up, the sound is amazing…the crackles of old records are even part of the experience. Plus, with labels offering free digital downloads, with vinyl, there is no excuse.

We’ve been nosy neighbors of the Origami Vinyl record store for a couple of months now. On our routine walks with Nori through Echo Park, we’ll stop in to see Neil (the proprietor) and check on the progress of the store.

It’s come a long way and it looks killer!! I saw it transform from empty shell to this. They are planning their grand opening party this Friday, April 3rd. I believe at 6pm, festivities begin with instore performances with some bands. I want!! This gem plays records and also transcodes music to digital files. Perfect.

While you are there, stop by Two Boots Pizza… the pizza joint all the way from New York. It’s good, I had some the other weekend…. after pizza, a drink at El Prado, one of my favorite neighborhood bars. It keeps getting busier and busier on weekends. For a quiet hangout, go during the week.
